GTA 6 Will Get a Physical Disk Release in December 2026, Claims Insider

GTA 6 pre orders are opening on June 25, 2026, and along with the pre orders Rockstar Games has revealed details on Ultimate Edition and pre order bonus for the game. However, what has made the fans really unhappy is the part that GTA 6 will not have a physical copy at launch. Instead, every physical copy will have a download code inside the box, and this download code will be available starting November 12 to support pre-loading. Now, the fans who were really looking forward to getting a GTA 6 physical copy at launch have to now purchase a digital copy in order to play the game, when it releases for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles on November 19, 2026. But in a new report from ppe.pl, GTA 6 will get a physical launch in December 2026.

GTA 6 Physical Release in December 2026

Rockstar Games has already confirmed that as of now GTA 6 will not get a physical release, and this has happened despite a confirmation from Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, that GTA 6 will get a physical release. The new leaks from ppe.pl could be true also, as they have been successful in reporting physical releases of the games in the past. Ppe.pl uses someone from the backend of a retailer’s store for getting information on physical releases of the games. But some of the leaks coming from the channel have been a little shaky in the recent past.

GTA 6 Physical Edition Not Coming at Launch Has Upset the Fans

While Rockstar Games has taken this step of not releasing physical copies of GTA 6 on launch in order to avoid leaks before the release of the game, the fans don’t seem to be happy with the decision. A user has posted on GTA 6 subreddit “All this fuzz for nothing”. GTA 6 fans believe that Rockstar Games is playing an anti-consumer tactic, where they are forcing gamers to purchase a digital copy of GTA 6 before they purchase the physical copy again as and when it releases.

Most of the fans think that Rockstar Games should have given this info at the same time as pre orders. Also, the fans are not happy with Rockstar Games locking single player activities and stuff behind a paywall. A user has posted on the same subreddit “Exactly, for me the biggest issue is the locking single player stuff behind a paywall. Sure, it’s mostly cosmetics and a couple of shops but what are these “activities” that are also locked? People are really ok enough to go “oh well it’s GTA so who cares” and that is EXACTLY why this is setting a trend in the future where you’ll buy games even more “piecemeal” than we already do.” Fans don’t want to choose between the pre order benefits and the disc edition of the game, but Rockstar Games has not left them any choice.

So, overall GTA 6 pre orders going live is a big thing for the fans, but this info on a later physical release of the game is devastating for some GTA 6 fans. Right now, the hype is high for the games, and with new 63 screenshots the fans are just waiting to enter the mesmerizing world of GTA 6 without any further delay in release.
