Sony Next-Gen Console PS6 to Cost More than 1000$

Earlier, a known insider Kepler_L2 had reported that Next-Gen consoles like PS6 would cost around $1000. But now, in a new report, the same leaker has revealed that the BoM (bill of materials) cost of the PS6 has increased by ~$200 since the $760 number he quoted March, putting it close to $1000”.  However, as Sony uses a strategy of keeping the launch prices lower for grabbing a beiger market share, the new expected retail price for PS6 could be in the range of $1200 or so.

Rising production costs are driven by exploding demand for memory and silicon from AI data centers. Storage prices have quadrupled since late 2025, with no relief expected soon, and this figure excludes assembly, shipping, or marketing costs. A rumored 2027 launch faces pressure, with talk of $800-$1,200 retail prices, while many players argue the PS5 generation, enhanced by the Pro, still has years left and urge skipping the next console.

Sony Removes 100 Games from PlayStation Store

Studio Afil Games confirmed that all of their games were delisted in compliance with these new guidelines. However, most of the gamers have revealed on various social media platforms that the games made by studio were not very popular, and they expect Sony to remove more such AI-Generated slop from the store.

Retailer Warns of Console Shortages Ahead of GTA 6 Launch

Based on a report by The Game Business, a major retailer has warned of console shortages ahead of the Holiday Season. Earlier in March, Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki, had informed the investors during the company’s financial earnings call that there is no shortage of PS5 console in the market for the financial year 2026, as the necessary volume has been secured. But we still have a PS5 shortage in the India market. However, Xbox Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball, had accepted that there are supply issues with Xbox, and it seems they will increase ahead of GTA 6 launch in November 2026. Console market will definitely observe a surge in console sales because of GTA 6 release, but will the market have enough consoles in stock for sales?
